Welcome to Amherst-Pelham Public School Nutrition Services

We know that good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Our Promise

We promise to provide every student in our schools with access to healthy, local and flavorful meals to fuel their potential for achievement, growth, and overall well-being.

Message From Sasha, Director of Nutritional Services

It’s been a little over 3 months since school opened and the food nutrition team has accomplished so much – from fresh baked scones to hearty school-grown veggie soup to new Chef Sam recipes, we are pleased with the progress we are making. There is still much to do!

We are ramping up our Farm-to-School initiative and we are thrilled to have won a $30,000 USDA planning grant to help us realize our vision. For our District, our farm to school initiative is much more than simply bringing locally or regionally produced foods into school cafeterias. We believe it is a much larger initiative - one that can ultimately create a stronger, healthier and more inter-connected community:

  • 5% of our food is locally sourced (over 30% if you include milk)
  • Nutrition Curriculum has been added to our elementary schools
  • Our school garden harvest yielded over 200 pounds of fresh veggies for our program
